Xu Mo was born in 1960 in Fujian province. He graduated from Fujian Institute of Crafts and Arts in 1981, then was admitted to Figure Painting Major, Chinese Painting Department, Zhejiang Institute of Fine Arts and has became a lecturer there from 1987 till now. Now he is a member of China Artists Association, a member of Figure Painting Research Center of Zhejiang Province and the dean of Figure Painting Teaching Research Section, Chinese Painting Department, China Institute of Fine Arts.
